Keeping Transaction Receipts: When Should You Keep Them and When Can You Throw Them Away? 🧾

After making a payment at a counter or withdrawing cash, we usually receive a physical receipt. Most of the time, they end up tucked away in our wallets or thrown away without a second thought.

But do you know which receipts are actually worth keeping and which ones can be discarded?

I. Keep Receipts for Items Under Warranty

For electrical appliances, gadgets or furniture, receipts can serve as important proof of purchase when making a warranty claim. It’s a good idea to take a photo of the receipt as a digital copy, as the ink on physical receipts can fade over time.

II. Check Before You Throw

For everyday purchases such as groceries or food, check the receipt first and make sure the amount charged is correct before throwing it away.

III. Dispose of Sensitive Information

If a receipt contains information such as your account balance or personal reference numbers, tear up or destroy the relevant section before throwing it away.

Keep Your Wallet Tidy, Keep Your Records Organised. A simple approach to managing your receipts helps you keep important proof of purchase without filling your wallet with unnecessary pieces of paper. 💳✨
