Ramadan 2026: 'Zakat' Security Check πŸ•Œ

Ramadan is indeed a month for us to multiply rewards and share our blessings. But while we intend to do good, there are also scammers waiting for an opportunity. So, before giving zakat or charity online, ensure your money truly reaches the intended recipients.

Let's do a quick 'security check' πŸ‘‡

i) Use Official Portals Only

Pay Zakat Fitrah or any contribution through the official state Zakat website or a verified bank application only. Never click 'Instant Donation' links that come from nowhere, whether from WhatsApp, Telegram, or social media comments.

ii) Double-Check the Recipient's Name

If scanning a QR code at a mosque or NGO near a Ramadan bazaar, do not immediately press 'Confirm'. First, check the recipient's name displayed on the screen. There are cases where scammers paste a fake QR code over the original QR code to redirect the money to their accounts.

iii) Donations Do Not Require a PIN or OTAC

Legitimate charitable organisations will never call and ask for your ATM PIN or OTAC code to 'verify' your donation. If someone asks for bank information, hang up immediately. That is a red flag 🚩

Doing good is worship, but being cautious is a responsibility. The heart must be sincere, and the bank account must be safe too ✨
