SCAM SMS ALERT! Card Charged Accidentally? DON'T PANIC & DON'T CALL!

Scammers are getting smarter. They are now capable of impersonating banks, sending SMS notifications claiming your card has been charged, and urging you to call an unfamiliar number for verification or cancellation. This is a scam tactic (Smishing) designed to steal your banking information.

🕵️‍♂️ Recognize the Signs of an SMS Scam:

  • Unfamiliar Sender Number: The message is sent from a personal/regular phone number (e.g., 01X-XXXX XXXX), NOT the bank's short, official number.

  • Creates Panic: It reports a large, unrecognized transaction, pressuring you to act immediately.

  • Requests a Call-Back: You are asked to call a foreign phone number that is not your bank's official Helpline.

✅ What You Should Do

  • Call the Official Line: ONLY call the official bank contact number printed on the back of your card or on our official website if you have any doubts.

  • Ignore and Delete: Delete the suspicious SMS immediately and ignore it. Do not reply to the message.

  • Lodge a Report: Report the incident to your bank and to the NSRC (National Scam Response Centre) at 997.

🚫 What You SHOULD NOT Do:

  • DO NOT Call: DO NOT call the number provided in the fraudulent SMS.

  • DO NOT Click/Disclose: DO NOT click on any links or DISCLOSE your card details, PIN, TAC, or Password. Banks will never ask for them.

Remember: KAF Digital Bank will never send any text SMS with instructions to call a personal/unfamiliar phone number to verify any transaction. Stay safe!
