Zakat & Charity: Sincere Intentions, Smart Precautions 🕌

Ramadhan is a month of giving. However, don’t let your sincerity be taken advantage of. Fake donation posters are increasingly common on social media, often using emotional images and stories to gain sympathy.

Pause. Check first.

i) Verify the Account Name

Ensure the donation account is registered under an official NGO or mosque, not an individual’s personal name.

ii) Double-Check Before Confirming

When paying zakat via QR code at a mosque or surau, check the recipient name displayed on your screen before pressing “Confirm.” Make sure it matches the official Zakat centre or mosque.

iii) Be Cautious of Unexpected “Raya Aid” Messages

If you receive an SMS claiming you are eligible for special aid and asking for your bank details, it is likely a phishing attempt. Do not click the link.

Giving is noble. Ensuring it reaches the right hands makes it even more meaningful. ✨
